Overview
      The City of Oroville currently offers a program to assist senior and disabled homeowners who don't have financial resources to complete minor property repairs. A grant of up to $1,000 per year, per single family households, and $1,500 per year for mobile home households is available.

Basic Eligibility Requirements
      Applicant must be a Senior Citizen, 65+ years of age or physically disabled

      Applicant must own and occupy their home or mobile home

      Applicant must live within the Oroville City limits

What type of Repair is Eligible?
      This program was designed to help senior and disabled persons obtain assistance with small but important health and safety repairs. Eligible repairs include, but are not limited to such jobs as:

Plumbing: Leaking, broken, non-operating sinks, toilets, faucets, garbage disposals, and water heaters.

Small Electrical Hazards: Lights, outlets, and switches.

Weatherization: Weather-stripping, caulking around doors and windows.

Maintenance Repairs to: Evaporative coolers, furnaces, roofing, gutters, steps, railings and hazardous trees.

Correcting Tripping Hazards

Smoke Detector Repair or Replacement

Health and Safety Hazards

Minor Code Violations


Highlights of Grant Terms and Conditions
      This is a grant and does not need to be repaid

      The maximum grant amount is $1,000.00 per year for single family
         households per owner/property, per year or for any single repair,
         with a lifetime limit of $ 2,000.00.
         The maximum grant amount is $1,500.00 for mobile home households per
         owner/property,per year or for any single repair, with a $3,000 lifetime
         limit. These limits may be waived after review, if a repair is deemed
         severe by the City of Oroville.

      Grant amounts shall be used towards the costs of rehabilitation of the homes
         as it relates to handicapped accessibility improvements and
         Housing Quality Standards.

      Interested individuals can obtain an application from the City of Oroville's Business Assistance and Housing Development Department. Once eligibility is determined, the City's Housing Development Supervisor will examine the property and discuss the feasibility of the project with the applicant. Work may begin after the City of Oroville approves the repair bid, and an agreement is signed. The Business Assistance and Housing Development Department staff will disburse funds, upon completion of contracted work.
