SBF 101 The Settlement Agreement (SBF Steering Committee Meeting Presentation July 26, 2023)
This PowerPoint provides a summary of the "Basics of a Complicated Agreement" related to the licensing of the Oroville Facilities known as FERC Project NO. 2100. The California Department of Resources operates the Oroville Facilities as part of the California State Water Project, a water storage and delivery system of reservoirs, aqueducts, power plants and pumping plants. the State Water Project makes deliveries of supplemental water to two-thirds of California's population and over 750,000 acres of agricultural lands. The Project also is operated to provide power generation, improve water quality in the Sacramento and San Joaquin Delta, manage Feather River floodwaters, provide recreation and enhance fish and wildlife.
The Project operates under a license originally issued by FERC on February 11, 1957, for a term of 50 years. Since January 31, 2007, the project has operated under an interim license pending final approval of a new application for a 50-year period.
Besides the facilities operation, a commitment to provide long-term funding for economic and recreational benefits to the community was made. after extensive negotiations with over fifty stakeholders, as part of what is known as, the Settlement Agreement for Licensing of the Oroville Facilities FERC Project no. 2100 which was signed March 2006.
