SHARPS & Medication Disposal Kiosk
To ensure a clean and safe community, a safe drop-off location for citizens disposal kiosks is available to the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Kiosks are located at the Oroville Police Department located at 2055 Lincoln Street Oroville, CA 95966 (on the left side of the building).
Sharps Container Guidelines
A sharps container is a single-use container that is filled with used medical needles and then properly disposed of.
DO:
- Keep needles away from children and pets
- Dispose of needles in a 1QT or smaller hard shell securely closed container.
- Water or Soda bottles are accepted if nothing else can be found
- Follow local guidelines for disposing of needles and other sharp medical materials
DON'T:
- Throw sharps in the garbage or recycling bins
- Flush sharps down the toilet or drop into storm drains
Medical Disposal Guidelines
Place your unwanted or expired medications in the medication disposal drop box to help prevent dangerous accidents with the children in our community.
ACCEPTED:
- Prescription medications (Schedule II-V controlled and non-controlled substances)
- Over the counter medications
- Solid Pet Medications
NOT ACCEPTED:
- Illegal drugs
- Needles
- Lotions or Liquids
- Inhalers
- Aerosol Cans
- Thermometers
- Hydrogen Peroxide
Other Disposal Areas
For a fair number of SHARPS to be disposed of or if the container is greater than 1QT, container may also be dropped off at Recology located at 2720 S. 5th Ave Oroville, CA 95965. The large SHARPS kiosk is available to the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Recology also provides free SHARPS containers for the public during their normal business hours.
