Your voice matters! Make sure you're registered to vote and ready to participate in upcoming elections. Voting is one of the most important ways you can influence decisions that impact our community. Whether you're voting for local representatives, state officials, or federal elections, your vote counts!
How to Register
You can register to vote in just a few easy steps:

Online
Visit the California Online Voter Registration website. You'll need a valid California driver's license or state ID and the last four digits of your Social Security number. -
By Mail
Pick up a voter registration form at the Butte County Elections Office, any local library, or post office. Once completed, mail it to our county elections office. -
In-Person
You can register in person at the Butte County Elections Office, located at:- Address: 155 Nelson Avenue, Oroville, CA 95965

Voter Registration Deadlines
- Standard Deadline: You must register at least 15 days before an election to be eligible to vote in that election.
- Same-Day Voter Registration: If you miss the deadline, you can still register to vote at the county elections office or polling place on Election Day.
Am I Eligible to Register?
You can register to vote if you meet the following requirements:
- A U.S. citizen and a resident of California
- At least 18 years old by Election Day
- Not currently serving a state or federal prison term for a felony conviction
- Not found mentally incompetent to vote by a court
Update Your Voter Information
Already registered but moved, changed your name, or want to update your political party preference? You’ll need to update your voter registration. You can do this online, by mail, or in person—just follow the same steps as registering for the first time.
