Holiday Celebrations at the City of Oroville Museums-FREE
Mistletoe Party- Sunday, December 8th from 12:00pm-4:00pm
Join us to celebrate the holidays at the C.F. Lott Home, Mistletoe Party! Come enjoy FREE entry to the museum, punch, cookies, and holiday music at this festive event. There will be a brass quintet performance on the patio from 3:00-4:00pm to close out the event! Bundle up and come ready to enjoy the holiday magic at this special historic Home and learn about why mistletoe was so important to the Lott family. Cornelia's Garden gift shop in the museum will also be open during the event and is stocked with unique stocking stuffers and gifts for the whole family (cash or check ONLY). This event is hosted by the City of Oroville Docent Association and the Friends of the Parks with support from the City of Oroville Museums.
Pioneer Christmas- Saturday, December 14th from 12:00-4:00pm
Celebrate Christmas like a Pioneer at the Butte County Pioneer History Museum's FREE event! Make your own ornaments and listen to old time fiddlers while learning more about Oroville's history as a Gold Rush town. It's holiday spirit and history, what more could you ask for! The museum also has a gift shop that is stocked with unique stocking stuffers and gifts for the whole family (cash or check ONLY). This event is hosted by the City of Oroville Docent Association with support from the City of Oroville Museums.

Discover Oroville's Museum Mile!
The City of Oroville owns and operates five museums that are all located within a mile of each other in Oroville's Downtown Historic District. Oroville City Museums include The C.F. Lott Historical Home, The Oroville Chinese Temple, The Feather River Nature Center and Native Plant Park, The Bolt’s Antique Tool Museum, and The Pioneer History Museum.

The C.F. Lott Home, Pioneer History Museum and Chinese Temple illustrate some of the diverse stories of the region's Pioneer and Gold Mining history, including the experience of Chinese gold miners and their legacy. The Feather River Nature Center and Native Plant Park offers education and family friendly activities about the ecology and habitats along the Feather River. The Bolt’s Antique Tool Museum boasts a collection of more than 12,000 tools that together tell a wider story about human innovation and tool use across history from blacksmithing to the monkey wrench.
Please Be Reminded of City Museum Seasonal Public Hours
Oroville City Museums are completely staffed by volunteers from the Oroville Docent Association. Hours of operation differ for each museum over the course of the year.
- The Bolt's Antique Tool Museum is open on Saturday and Sunday from 10-2 throughout the year.
- Feather River Nature Center is open April 20 - October 2024 on the first and third Sundays of the month.
- C.F. Lott Home, Oroville Chinese Temple and Museum Complex, and the Pioneer Museum are open March - November 23rd on Fridays and Saturdays.
Museum Public Hours and Entry Fees - CASH or CHECK only
All city museums are staffed by volunteers who are members of the Oroville Docent Association. This dedicated group keeps the doors of the museums open to the public.
Public Hours
If the museums are closed during normal hours, it is due to a lack of docent volunteers. If you are interested in becoming a docent volunteer, click here!

- $4 Adults (Exception, the Feather River Nature Center does not charge admission)
- $3 Seniors
- Children under 12 Free

- Oroville Chinese Temple - Open March - November on Friday/Saturday 10 am - 2 pm
- Bolt's Antique Tool Museum - the last Friday of the month and Saturday/Sunday 10 am - 2 pm
- Pioneer History Museum - Open March - November on Friday/Saturday 10:15 am - 2:15 pm
- C.F. Lott Home - Open March - November on Friday/Saturday 10:30 am - 2:30 pm
- The Feather River Nature Center - Open April-October on the first and third Sunday of every month 12:00 pm-3 pm
Tours at Oroville City Museums
If your group is interested in a tour, please fill out the tour request form below. The Docents strive to accommodate tour requests to the best of their ability! Providing a minimum of two weeks advance notice is very helpful. Please note tour fees on the tour request form and that our museums only accept cash or check.
