General Housing Questions
How can I apply for Section 8 Housing?
Section 8 is handled by the Housing Authority of Butte County. You can call them at (530) 895-4474, email them at Info@Butte-Housing.com, or visit their website here.
How do I apply for the new apartments being built?
Applications will NOT be handled through the City. We will update our Affordable Housing in Oroville page as soon as we receive information regarding the application process for any new apartments being built.
First Time Homebuyer Questions
Is the loan forgiven after a certain amount of time?
No, the loan is not forgiven. Our loans have interest forgiveness that varies depending on the time of repayment, but the principal amount must be repaid.
How do I complete the First Time Homebuyer Workshop?
The workshop is now offered online. We will provide a voucher for you to complete the class once you have entered into Escrow.
Can I use any Lender for the Primary Mortgage?
We can work with most lenders, however we will not work with online only lenders.
How do I get an application? Can I do it online?
Applications are available in the front lobby of City Hall Monday through Thursday from 8:00am to 5:00pm and Friday from 8:00am to 12:00pm (noon). We DO NOT provide electronic applications. If you are unable to pick up an application please call our office at (530) 538-2495 to request to have one mailed to you.
