WEED ABATEMENT RESOURCE LIST

There are varieties of methods for ensuring your home is fire safe during the hot summer months. City Ordinance requires all residents to cut grass and weeds, throughout the active fire season.

MOW OR WEED EATING

Entire property, this must be completed between the hours of 6:00 am and 11:00 am to avoid sparks from the mower or weed eater.

DISKING, ROTOLILLING OR DOZING

For large plots of land the owner may disk, rototill or doze a 30-foot wide fire break down to the bare soil. This perimeter must be done around the entire lot. NO MOWING FOR FIRE BREAKS.

LIVESTOCK – GO GREEN OROVILLE!

Vegetation management using livestock is a highly effective means of removing and controlling vegetation. If you intend to use this method, you must contact the Oroville Fire Department at (530)538-2481 and request a Pasture Land affidavit each year. The form will be sent to you by any means you choose.
